Penganut Kristian Mesir terus merusuh

Penunjuk perasaan Kristian yang marah melontar batu ke arah beberapa Menteri Mesir semalam, ketika kebimbangan tercetusnya kekacauan agama semakin meningkat di negara ini ekoran satu letupan gereja yang meragut 21 nyawa, hujung minggu lalu.

Beratus-ratus penganut Kristian Koptik berkumpul di pekarangan Gereja St. Mark di sini yang juga ibu pejabat Pope Koptik, Shenouda III dan menganggu pegawai-pegawai kerajaan yang datang bagi mengucapkan takziah.

Penunjuk perasaan mengejar Menteri Pembangunan Ekonomi Mesir, Osman Mohammed Osman ke keretanya dan melontar batu selepas beliau bertemu Shenouda, ketika beberapa penunjuk perasaan yang lain bertempur dengan polis yang berada di luar pagar gereja tersebut.

Seorang pegawai polis berkata, sekurang-kurangnya 40 anggota pasukan keselamatan itu cedera ringan selepas dilontar dengan batu oleh penunjuk perasaan.

Lebih seribu penunjuk perasaan turut memecah pintu pagar gereja dan membanjiri jalan-jalan raya berhampiran dengan sebahagian daripadanya menghentikan kereta, memukul bumbung kenderaan dan melempar batu.

Terdahulu, berpuluh-puluh penunjuk perasaan mengepung Imam Besar Al-Azhar, Ahmed al-Tayeb dan menghentam keretanya selepas ulama terkenal Mesir itu bertemu Shenouda.

Pegawai polis berkata, lebih 1,000 penganut Kristian Koptik turut menjalankan bantahan di pekarangan Kementerian Luar dan bangunan stesen televisyen berhampiran.

Seramai 21 orang maut, sementara 70 yang lain cedera apabila sebuah kereta meletup di luar gereja Koptic Orthodox di utara bandar raya Iskandariah ketika penganut Kristian sedang berkumpul bagi menyambut Tahun Baru, Sabtu lalu.

Berikutan itu, pasukan keselamatan Mesir semalam menahan 20 individu untuk soal siasat, tetapi masih belum memperoleh sebarang bukti untuk mengaitkan mereka dengan serangan tersebut. – AFP
