President Datuk Yong Teck Lee said that just as reason as last week about 160 houses that belonged to natives in Kota Marudu were bulldozed together with their crops.
“Where is the elected representatives of the area? Where is the leader, ministers and the Chief Minister? How could this happen in Sabah?” he asked.
Speaking at the breaking of fast ceremony at Kampung Cenderamata II near here Saturday, Yong said that in many similar cases the houses that were demolished were not built on squatter settlement but on NCR land.
He said Kampung Cenderamata II used to be a squatter settlement with houses built haphazardly but after the settlement was burnt down in a big fire afew years ago, the State government when he was the Chief Minister decided to reclaim the area and give land lots to the local to build houses.
“We discussed and decided to set aside a lot to build surau and lots for the people, not so big but enough for them to live comfortably. Now with the cooperation from all the residents, this village has expanded,” he said.
“The residents come from Kampung Likas, Petagas, Kota Belud and Bongawan but they decided to cooperate with one another irrespective of their ethnic races and origin so this is the SAPP spirit,” he said, adding that Kampung Cenderamata II had since been gazetted as a village reserve and protected under the law.
He believed that if a place like Kampung Cenderamata II caught fire there is a big possibility that the huge piece of land would be taken over by political leaders and be given to big companies.
He pointed to other squatter settlements in Sabah such as in Gum-Gum Sandakan, Sungai Burung in Lahad Datu, Serudong in Tawau and several other places many of the residents were being evicted.
“They were evicted not because to clear the area to build school, mosque, hospital or roads but so that they can give the priceless vacant land to big companies,” he said.
He noted another settlement called Kampung Lupak Meluas in Sandakan, which during his time as Chief Minister suffered similar fate with Kampung Cenderamata II.
However, he said Sandakan whose leader become a Chief Minister and non-stop deputy chief ministers, Kampung Lupak Meluas that is under Sekong state constituency and Batu Sapi Parliamentary constituency remained a squatter settlement until today and most of the people were being evicted.
“If I go to Sandakan, I will always be taken to that village and asked about many things and why the existing surau never been repaired,” he said.
In this respect, Yong reiterated that after the election, which he said might be in one year time from now, SAPP would return all these lands to the people.
He said SAPP only has two seats in Kota Kinabalu so in the next election SAPP intended to expand and contest in more than 40 seats in Sabah.
“I hope residents in Kampung Cenderamata II who are from other districts will be able to convey this message to their families and friends back in their hometown about SAPP,” he said.
Perhaps, he said in Karambunai and Sepanggar it might not be difficult for SAPP to win but “we want to win in many more places”.
He also advised the people to get their children who are eligible to vote to register with the Election Commission.
In Karambunai, he said there are 2,962 voters but at the same time there are about 800 eligible voters yet to register themselves.
“Perhaps today you are a member of Umno, Upko or others but in the coming election your heart stays with SAPP,” he said, noting that were some from other parties attending the SAPP gathering.
Meanwhile, the number of recipients of contribution from SAPP in conjunction with the Ramadan month in Kampung Cenderamata this year had increased to 1,596 from 1,490 last year. -Sabahkini

Yong pun pernah menjadi KM, tapi tak pernah aku dengar ada apa-apa yang pernah dibuat bila dia menjadi KM dulu. Lepas tempoh dia habis, barulah mahu membuat bising. Semua pun macam tu, seperti mahu memainkan permainan politik.
ReplyDeleteApa-apa pun, diharapkan penyiasatan dibuat secepat mungkin supaya penjelasan yang baik diberikan.

Every once in a while, YTL will make promises apart from busy making accusation & trying to divert peoples attention from the "sin"that he had done when he still the Chief Minister. For your information, there have been some efforts made by the state government to solve this ncr issues.
1. Natives to get communal land titles – CM
by Nancy Lai
July 6, 2010, Tuesday
KOTA KINABALU: Giving land to natives in Sabah through a communal title will ensure that the land can be inherited by the recipients’ descendants.“We won’t give them individual titles because we don’t want them to sell the land. For the time being, they can live in the area for life. We will be doing this (giving communal title) in a huge way,” said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.
Musa, who is also Finance Minister, said he is saddened that many were unaware that thousands of rural folks in Nabawan hadreceived land through the communal title.
“The villagers who did not possess land in the past now do and they are happy,” he said when met after officiating at the Native Court Judicial Conference here yesterday.
He added that the state government would also convert forest reserve land, which had been occupied for so long, to state land, so that villagers could continue to live there.
Musa said this when asked to comment on the statement by Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili on Sunday that land ownership issue, illegal immigrants and imbalances in power-sharing among Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties could pose a threat to the coalition in the coming election.
On the call of Tandek PBS division to the government to cancel the approval given to a company for 60,000 hectares of land in Kota Marudu and Pitas as 35 villages were affected as well as native customary land areas, Musa said the approval was done by previous state chief ministers.
The government, he said, is prepared to negotiate the land approval given to the company with a view to acquiring them, especially native customary land and those that affect the interest of villagers.
“The process takes time and I have explained to Dr Max that the government is taking steps to acquire back the lands which were approved by the previous chief ministers...

2. Take action over native land intrusion, says Ongkili
KOTA MARUDU: An MP has called on the authorities to act immediately against a company which he claims is intruding into land belonging to villagers in this northern district town.
Kota Marudu MP Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili said the areas involved were native customary land which have matured crops and rubber trees.
“The Sabah Lands and Survey Department should take action because the case was reported to them a year ago when surveying was taking place.
“The area covers Kampung Soniton Ulu, Kampung Lingkobungan 1 and Kampung Bombong 1 in Kota Marudu,” he said.
Dr Ongkili, who is also the Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, added that the land overlapped with a huge area allegedly approved to a private company for development.
He said the company had bulldozed the customary native land and destroyed the crops to make way for an oil palm plantation.
“The land has been toiled on for years by about 150 families. The company claims it was given approval to develop 1,768 acres,” said Dr Ongkili after villagers voiced their grievances to him.
He said the company should consider the livelihood and welfare of the poor villagers and farmers, instead of just thinking about making profits.

A few days later, the state Land department take action..
all squatters should be demolished and of course state govt have they own reason for doing it. maybe because of PATI, or due to illegal pipe and electricity connection.. anyway, state government should solve the problem related to native land that were bulldozed by private company. investigate this case and explain the truth to public...
ReplyDeleteYTL just using this issue for his political interest to gain more support from sabahan. or maybe to divert people attention about the mistake he has done..
ReplyDeleteYTL hnya nak meraih undi sahaja, perlu diketahui YTL tidak layak memrintah sabah, sabah pernah rugi semasa dia menjadi KM dahulu. bagaimanapun.
ReplyDeleteYTL, where is your explanation regarding the SAS ? Which in 1996 you convinced 55,000 Sabahans to invest in SAS – Saham Amanah Sabah
ReplyDeletethat it was a great buy which would multiply its value twice or thrice its original price of one ringgit but unfortunately it didn't turn out to be as what you said. So, where is your explanation?
Its so typical for politician to suddenly act "concern and helpful" to the rakyat problems upon knowing the election day is just around the corner.
ReplyDeletemungkin ini hanyalah cara YTL untuk meraih sokongan daripada penduduk setempat.
ReplyDeletewhy YTL noisy now. During he a CM never on the other hand I listen all this. Only now he want do well with people. why??to cover the mistake..
ReplyDeleteHow about, where was YTL when he was still a CM back then??? Honestly, I didn't see much contribution from him when he was the CM.
ReplyDeleteI think this should be the best answer for "WHERE IS THE CHIEF MINISTER?"

ReplyDeleteMaximus assures NCR landowners their land will be issued communal titles (New Sabah Times)
17th August, 2010
KOTA MARUDU: Native customary rights landowners involved in the land dispute with Begaraya Sdn Bhd here have been assured that their land will be surveyed and issued communal titles.
The decision was made at the special taskforce meeting held today at the District Office, involving the district land office, National Resources Division of the Chief Minister’s Department, Sabah Land and Survey Department, Sabah Forestry Department and Sabah Forestry Development Authority (Safoda).
The taskforce met to discuss and resolve land disputes between villagers and Safoda and Begaraya.
According to Federal Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili, the surveying for issuance of land titles is expected to begin in three month’s time involving 17 villages in Kota Marudu district. “This will eliminate any fear by NCR landowners of losing their land to Begaraya,” he said after chairing the meeting.
He added that the Land and Survey Department was already undertaking aerial survey of villages overlapping with the Begaraya area. This is to supplement the socio-economic data collected by the District Office such as number of family members of each landowner and acreage already opened for agriculture.
The meeting also discussed the land dispute involving Safoda in Kampung Mangin I and Kampung Mangin II where 7,000 hectares of land have been identified for forestry development, but which overlaps with at least six villages in the Matunggong area.
“The decision reached is that all land claimed as NCR must be excluded from the Safoda area,” Dr Maximus said of the longstanding issue of the overlapping claims involving Safoda which existed since 1977.
After the meeting, Dr Maximus also held a dialogue session with 200 villagers in Kampung Mangin II where he pacified their fears and updated them on the meeting’s outcome. With him were Matungggong assemblyman, Sarapin Magana and district officer Luvita Koisun.
On Friday, Dr. Maximus, who is also PBS deputy president had urged the Land and Survey Department to act promptly against a company for intruding on and bulldozing land which covered three villages here.
The special taskforce also discussed the claim by villagers of Kampung Soniton Ulu, Kampung Lingkobungan 1 and Kampung Bombong 1 against the private company which alleged that it had been approved 1,700 acres of land for an oil palm plantation.
Dr Maximus said the Land and Survey Department would send a team within the next one week to identify the boundaries and assess the necessary compensation or excision of NCR land from the area approved to the company.
“I commend the state Land and Survey Department for its quick action to resolve the issue,” he added.

ReplyDeletethis guy YTL is like to quake around..don't know when he will stop pretending..
ReplyDeleteYTL favorite game is spinning the issues as his political tools to meet his own political interest...
ReplyDeletepeople not believe in you anymore YTL...
ReplyDeleteme also not believe in every words you said YTL...for its more like for your own interest, not the people..
