Built on the Windows Server 2008 R2 base, Home Server 2011 features a simpler dashboard, a better backup solution, dead simple remote access to the home computers, and Silverlight-powered remote media streaming. It will also track the antivirus and firewall status of computers on the network.
According to a post at Microsoft’s forums, the software will be available to buy as a “system builder SKU” from major online resellers next month.
