"I sincerely invite Lajim to join DAP. Our door is open for him or he can also join other Pakatan Rakyat parties, especially Parti Keadilan Rakyat, and join hands with his brother in Beaufort," he said.
Perhaps Lajim could set up the DAP Beaufort division to continue his struggle for the people there, said Chong commenting on a report that Lajim had announced his resignation as the chief for the Kerambai Kebatu Umno branch during his 57th birthday celebration at his residence in Beaufort during the weekend.
It was also reported that Lajim who is also Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister had recently announced that he would not be defending the Umno Beaufort chief post and, instead, hand it over to his deputy Isnin Aliasnih.
"Since he has announced that he has resigned from his party post at the divisional level then I invite him to join us in DAP," said Chong in his maiden statement after joining DAP last month.
"He is making a very wise decision since support for the Barisan Nasional (BN) and Umno is waning," he said.
Chong claimed that 15 strong Umno leaders from Sabah have had their names dropped from the potential candidate list for the coming 13th General Election.
"They include Lajim. But this is not a surprise because even in the last General Election in 2008 his name was also not in the list.
However, his name was reinstated after he met with Datuk Najib Tun Razak who was then the Deputy Prime Minister.
"I know because I was with him at that time," said Chong who is also a former Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Supreme Council member.
Chong said there would be more chance for Lajim to fight for development for his people through Pakatan or DAP.
"In fact, once Pakatan forms the government there is no need to fight because many development programmes have already been lined up for Sabah unlike now where you fight but in the end, nothing," he said.
"In conjunction with his 57th birthday, I wish him and his family as well as his staunch supporters in Beaufort good health," said Chong.

Please think twice before give some offer this type of YB. We dont want the incident happen in Perak last few years, happen again and again in where ever place. Yes ,we need some leader to be a leader but dont let the situation to overrun people's in between or peoples just get LOSS from parties 'gambering'.
ReplyDeleteberminat jg DAP dgn Lajim, tapi belun tentu Lajim berminat dgn DAP.
ReplyDeleteKalau betullah Lajim mau keluar parti, kenapa sebelum ni beliau buat penafian?
ReplyDeleteIts up to him whether want to join DAP or not. Its all in his hand.
ReplyDeleteIf he think that DAP is better than BN, then go to DAP.
ReplyDeleteInvite ja la, tak salah... Biar Lajm buat keputusan sendiri.
ReplyDeleteTapi kamu rasa, Lajim nak kah join DAP??? hehehe
ReplyDeletelajim cakap dia letak jawatan saja tapi masih ahli UMNO...
ReplyDeleteThere is always a chance for second thought.
ReplyDeleteThere is always a chance for second thought.
ReplyDeleteLajim the ball is on your court, decide earnestly!
ReplyDeleteIs there anything special he can offer?
ReplyDeleteLet’s wait and see what he has to say or decide.
ReplyDeleteLet him decide for himself, I guess he knows what is right.
ReplyDeleteEven if Lajim happens to join Dap, he may still jump to another party.
ReplyDeleteLet us wait and see for Lajim decision.
ReplyDeleteI just can't wait to see Lajim's next step.
ReplyDeleteIs Lajim will be able to give huge impact towards the Sabah's politics if he quits from UMNO?
ReplyDeleteLajim will still loyal to BN I think.
ReplyDeleteDAP mengalukan Lajim, adakah lajim beringin sangat untuk menyertai DAP?
ReplyDeleteNot sure what DAP can offer to make Lajim to join DAP?
ReplyDeletemacam terdesak pula pembangkang mahu dapatkan Lajim.
ReplyDeleteTidak hairan jika Lajim lompat parti.
ReplyDeleteBiarlah Lajim sendiri menentukan mana beliau nak pergi.
ReplyDeleteGet invite doesn't mean Lajim wanna to join.
ReplyDeleteWhat Lajim do no longer matters, since the top party leaders already decided to drop him the first place. No impact to UMNO.
ReplyDeleteSo many opposition parties are eager to take what UMNO does not want, they seems to be really desperate for members, and they're willing to take in just about anyone.
ReplyDeletekalau Lajim benar2 mempunyai niat mahu menyertai Pakatan, baik bertindak la awal2.. jangan tunggu keputusan PRU13 keluar baru mahu bertindak.. nanti sia2 kena label sebagai katak atau tamak..
ReplyDeleteBarisan Nasional (BN) Sabah secretary Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan has expressed regret over the announcement by Umno Supreme Council member and Beaufort chief Datuk Seri Panglima Lajim Okin that he would be joining an opposition party and was ready to be sacked by Umno.
ReplyDeleteNevertheless, he said, BN Beaufort will now be able to formulate strategies with clear direction, without being bogged down by uncertainties in the last few months created by overdramatised political power play by certain parties.
ReplyDelete“I must emphasise that BN’s success in developing this country in the last 50 years is not due to individual personalities. It is the collective wisdom of all BN leaders which made it happen,” Abdul Rahman said.
ReplyDelete“In the next general election, the people of Sabah will vote for progress, development, peace and security which are the cornerstones of Barisan Nasional government under the able leadership of YAB Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and YAB Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Hj Aman,” he said.
ReplyDelete“Both leaders have rolled out many successful and effective programmes to reduce poverty, help the poor, increase economic activities, provide employment and business opportunities as well as giving more democratic space to all Malaysians.”
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Yahya Hussin said Lajim, being a politician, has his own stand.
ReplyDeleteAsked if this had been discussed at the party-level, Yahya said it was up to the leadership to decide on the action to be taken following the latest development.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, PAS said it is ready to accept Lajim, who is also Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister and the Member of Parliament for Beaufort.”PAS welcomes him (Lajim) to continue his political struggle with PAS and Pakatan Rakyat,” said Sabah PAS Youth chief Lahirul Latigu.
ReplyDelete“PAS looks forward to Beaufort member of parliament Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin’s next course of action if he is sacked by Umno.
ReplyDelete“He (Lajim) has already admitted that PR is able to make changes and corrects the distortions made by Umno. PAS is grateful for his views,” he said.
ReplyDeleteLahirul also said PAS would readily accept other politicians and community leaders regardless of their position and background.
ReplyDeleteHe said PAS had shown its openness and willingness to admit anyone who was interested to join the party.
ReplyDelete“PAS has gone through numerous experiences. The party also accepts professionals such as doctors, lawyers and ordinary people who want to join PAS. We never block the entry of such people to our party,” he said.
ReplyDeleteLajim was reported by a local paper as saying during a gathering at the home of former Kuala Penyu assemblyman Datuk John Ghani in Labuan that he was ready to be sacked from Umno.
