KK Star City Project In Limbo

THE RECENT request from the shop unit buyers of the KK Star City Shopping Mall to the KK MP Hiew King Cheu to arrange for a general meeting to find ways and solution to the long delay and pending completion of the said shopping mall has received attention from him and a meeting is scheduled on this Saturday, 13th of August, at 2 pm in the afternoon, in the Kinamount Car wash/café. This car wash is situated at the entrance to Taman Kinamount from the Penampang road.

MP Hiew said the meeting is for the sole purpose of forming a buyers committee among the buyers of the shop units of this stopped work complex. The committee members shall be elected from the buyers and later will take up the task of representing the whole listed buyers to deal with the matters arising with the developer.

The committee shall be entrusted and given the authority and responsibilities to arrange and to push for an eventual final completion of the project, and also to represent to arrange to take up any legal action if necessary.

Hiew said that during the process and the dealing could be a lengthy and complicated one and every buyers should put their heads together to make things right. He hopes that the case need not have to go to court unless deemed necessary.

The buyers have to turn out in full force in order to make things work. Many have contacted the KK MP office to register themselves on the list.

This project is the life line of many people, and the delay in its completion has also caused serious financial problems and hardship to many buyers. The KK MP had met the developer and had some background reason on the stoppage of the development work which he will brief the buyers during the meeting.

He hopes that things can worked out amicably and resolved quickly without much hassles. It is the responsibility of the developer to complete the building and handing over to the buyers, and the interest of the buyers must be protected.

Hiew also urges the Sabah Ministry of Local Government to step in to intervene and assist to sort out the long delay on completion. It is the MLG’s responsibility to get the matter straightened out because any development in Sabah has to go through the MLG’s housing board or controllers for close control and monitoring. A guarantee or bond on the performance of the developer has to be deposited with the MLG housing controller section (DAP MEDIA). - Sabahkini
