Najib sah PRU13 bukan bulan depan

"Bukan bulan Disember, pastinya tahun depan," kata seorang seorang lagi pemimpin memetik Najib.

Lima negeri dikatakan bakal terjejas teruk apabila angin monsun timur laut melanda iaitu Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Perak, Johor termasuk Sabah dan Sarawak.

  12. Umno delegates will walk into the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) with guns blazing as they lay out their final battle plan for the polls but they must be careful not to pull the trigger on each other, party members and analysts have warned.

    ReplyDelete

  13. The analysts also cautioned that the Barisan Nasional (BN) lynchpin will be walking on very thin ice this time, having to strike a balance between working out the kinks within the party before the election while at the same time appearing strong and ready to face the ballot box test.

  14. They pointed out that the country’s largest political party also has to stay ahead in the rush for the Malay vote, where PAS is fast gaining ground, while trying its best to recapture at least some of its lost appeal among the non-Malay crowd, which observers believe that Pakatan Rakyat (PR) already has in the bag.

    ReplyDelete

  15. Adding to this already dicey situation is the vast difference between Umno and PR — while the latter has everything to prove, the former has everything to lose.

  16. “If you focus on one race alone, you will only be popular to that single race even though at where it (Umno) stands today, it is very important to get the support of all races.

  17. Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) political scientist Professor Dr Jayum Jawan agreed with Agus’ view, saying that apart from staying the bedrock of Malay politics, Umno also needs to set itself apart from PR by showing how inclusive it is to the other ethnic minorities.

    ReplyDelete
  18. “Umno does struggle for the rights of the Malays, that we all know because the Malays form the majority.

    ReplyDelete
  19. “But the party needs to take the Chinese, the Indians, those in Sabah and Sarawak into greater consideration as well,” he said.

  20. “So this is important for the Umno leadership to win the hearts of the middle ground... because this middle ground will be the determining factor of the outcome in the next general election,” Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) political analyst Professor Datuk Dr Mohammad Agus Yusoff .

  22. The analyst said that by showing how much it can do for the other communities, Umno would widen its support base and strengthen the party further.

  23. To Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak, however, unity, moderation and loyalty to party could well be the very reinforcements that Umno will need to sail through these hurdles.

    ReplyDelete
  24. During his presidential briefing to key Umno delegates ahead of the general assembly two days ago, this message was sternly driven home.

    ReplyDelete

  25. According to those at the briefing, Najib had stressed the need for party members to close ranks and stand united or be prepared to face defeat.

    ReplyDelete
  26. “He (Najib) reminded party members of things that could destroy us like internal sabotage.

    ReplyDelete
  27. “He said that what is important is for us to offer our undivided support to whichever candidate is selected to represent us and he stressed that if we are not united, whomever this candidate is, he will surely lose,” Puteri Umno chief Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin told reporters after the briefing.

    ReplyDelete

  28. But this may not be so easy a task for the over 5,000 delegates as even with the party leadership’s repeated reminder to stand united and practice moderation, every member wants to be recognised as a leader.

    ReplyDelete

  29. More significantly, many want to see their names on the final list of candidates, which some members have been pushing the party leadership for an early release.

    ReplyDelete
  30. But in a recent statement to the press, vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said this would only result in sabotage in some areas still deemed as problematic by the party leadership.

    ReplyDelete

  31. The leader’s admission to the existence of these problem areas, and the party’s decision to continue holding on to the list, speaks volumes on the state of matters within Umno.

    ReplyDelete
  32. A Perak leader told The Malaysian Insider that admittedly “a few constituencies” have continued to cause trouble for Umno, even though members have already sworn their allegiance to the party.

    ReplyDelete
  33. “In the party, there are still elements of sabotage, as each continues to feel they have contributed to the party and they want to become candidates. And when they do not get to be candidates, they start to sabotage others,” Agus pointed out.

    ReplyDelete

  34. “This is an old issue in the party and it has to be resolved carefully,” he added.

    ReplyDelete

  35. Some among the party have also openly voiced their demands for the candidate list to be revealed, including Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.

    ReplyDelete
  36. There has been heavy speculation over Khairy’s candidacy in the coming polls. The Rembau MP was reported as saying last January that he will not defend his seat but earlier this month, he said he would be willing to do so if chosen by the prime minister.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir, who is speculated as likely to be given a federal seat in the coming polls, was coy on the topic when approached on the sidelines of the presidential briefing.

    ReplyDelete
  38. His was not the first such answer to similar questions. No one has dared in the past months to speculate on their candidacy, except probably behind close doors, and those who are asked are quick to kill the question.

    ReplyDelete
  39. But many leaders approached said members are willing to bury their self-interests and are ready to accept whatever decision the party leadership makes.

    ReplyDelete

  40. Umno deputy minister Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi reasoned that this was the reason why some members have been pushing for the party’s candidate list to be revealed early.

    ReplyDelete

  41. Umno supreme council member Datuk Abdul Azeez Rahim said Umno members have “woken up” and moved forward, ready to forge ahead to the battle lines.

    ReplyDelete
  42. “We are not going to focus on who are the candidates. We are not going to touch on that. That is the discretion of the prime minister and the president of the party. “So what we will do is to follow through with our promises and work towards a victory,” he said.

    ReplyDelete

  43. Lenggong MP Datuk Shamsul Anuar Nasarah said the prime minister’s message has been well-respected and accepted by all members.

    ReplyDelete
  44. He noted that Umno delegates were made to take the “sumpah bai’ah” (oath of allegiance) during last year’s annual meet and said that since then, members have grown more aware of the importance of staying loyal to the party regardless of who gets chosen to contest the polls.

    ReplyDelete

  45. “Awareness has improved. Members know how important it is not to engage in internal sabotage and I believe this willingness will manifest in the coming polls. We will not train our guns on one another,” he said.
