DAP Sabah disputed the Barisan Nasional government suppressed the democracy in Sabah for suspending DAP Sabah’s Seri Tanjung assemblyman Jimmy Wong for the rest of the current State Assembly Sitting unreasonably.
DAP Sabah Deputy Chief, Fred Fung (red neck-tie) commented that the assembly shouldn’t suspend Jimmy Wong from the assembly sitting because everyone is entitled the freedom of speech in the assembly, especially a state assemblyman should given the right to speak for the rakyat.
Furthermore, he should entitled to his opinion and assembly's action is against the parliamentary democracy practise. "How can every argument and opinion raised are considered as 'sangkaan Jahat'?" He said, ministers are to respond all DUN's debate and not forcing out by standing order.
He said, Wong is speaking on behalf of the people to question the allegation on Chief Minister regarding corruption. The government should answer to question or allegation directly, but not to suspend anyone who has different political situation.
Fred had, in the view of democracy, dismissed the decision by the state assembly which is under majority controlled by Barisan Nasional. “If no freedom of speech and practice of democracy in the State Assembly, then it would be no democracy practiced in Sabah."
" The democracy is dead in the state assembly.” Fred concluded.

ReplyDeleteThe opposition’s propensity to twist facts by claiming that the Barisan Nasional (BN) government in Sabah has not done much is a reflection of their immature style of politics, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman.
ReplyDeleteHe lamented that even though the BN had clearly carried out a lot of effort to spur development in Sabah, the opposition continued to deny it.
ReplyDeleteDescribing their act as deceitful, he said they would rather promise to give the people the moon and stars even though it was just a political gimmick based on empty promises.

ReplyDeletePREMIER Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in his recent statement urged Sabah BN to be loyal and work closely under CM Datuk Seri Musa Aman and not to be obsessed with positions (DE Aug 12th , 2012).
ReplyDeleteNajib's advice must have been mooted basically from his personal evaluation and assessment of Musa's amazing testimony as the State CM.
Hence, there is justification to heed the premier's advice rationally apart from sensing the significance of the universal adage which tells us "United We Stand, Divided We Fall".
ReplyDeleteIn principle, the theory and practice of adhering to this unifying motto is nothing new to the understanding of most political leaders worldwide that accept liberal political ideology, be they in the government of the day or in the opposition blocks.
ReplyDeleteThis common objective could be fulfilled or materialised only when there is sincere co-existence of solid understanding and cooperation among the relevant parties in the interest of the coalition and putting behind every grain of personal political interest or agenda.
ReplyDeleteIn other transparent words, the State's political stability could be maintained and safeguarded when it is free from what is literarily known as "the black sheep in the family", who love hypocritical politics (back stabbing and double standard), whose minds and souls are filled with envy, greed and evil. Their intention is to smear the good reputation of their own colleagues in the government.
ReplyDeleteThese politicians are no doubt too desperate and dreaming in broad daylight for positions and have been trying hard " to create ripples in the pond via "hidden hands" to manipulate the situation for their own advantage particularly as the poll draws closer at the expense of others.

We lost because of our own weakness due to disunity and not because of the opposition strength "(DE Feb 12th , 2012)".
BN's poor performance in the 12th GE that took place sporadically in the peninsular during the reign of former premier Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is part of our national political history.

The coalition front was saved by the bell, thus enabling it to cling to power and continue governing the country via seats won mostly from the East Malaysian States of Sabah and Sarawak, later described as " The Fixed Deposits " for Peninsular BN, after failing to retain its landslide two third majority achieved way back in the 2004 Poll in the law making body ( Dewan Rakyat ).
In the 12th GE held four years ago, Sabah BN only lost one parliamentary seat to DAP out of the 25 seats contested. Umno won 13 seats, PBS - 3, Upko - 4, PBRS - 1 (uncontested), LDP - 1, SAPP - 2 (now in opposition) and DAP - 1.
ReplyDeleteBN, too, won almost all the 60 State Assembly seats it contested in the GE held simultaneously, Umno won 34 seats, PBS - 12, Upko - 4, LDP - 3, PBRS - 1, MCA - 1 and DAP - 1.
The BN leadership has set a strategic winning formula via reasonable allocation of seats to every component party nationwide both at State and Parliamentary level, by virtue of the studies made on the existing racial composition and statistics of voters within every constituency.
For example the urban areas that are mostly dominated by the non-bumi make up the dots or patterns of professional, businessmen, civil servants, educationalists or learned majority, etc.
ReplyDeleteThe farmers, fishermen and indigenous folks are mostly confined to the rural hinterland, including along the coastal areas, where the massive population statistics of Bumi are found in numbers, let alone the partial distribution of immigrants living within every district and residency statewide as their clusters of colonies are even found in the urban regions nowadays.
Generally, it is a combination of mixed reaction consisting of both affirmative and negative, but one point is very clear, it appears that most rural constituents prefer to be represented by new faces of winnable candidates characterised as easy to approach, accessible and cordial in nature rather than the incumbents , whom several have lately been branded as "non - performing YBs doing nothing much or little for their constituents other than to show off with their YB tags all these years during their tenure as the Peoples Representatives .
ReplyDeleteWhile others highlighted disappointing views that several of their YBs had turned out to difficult to meet types who could not even spare a moment to hear, discuss or seek the solutions to the constituents' common problems in the villages. But these peoples have no problem seeing their YB on the eve of election campaigning or polling days.
ReplyDeleteThe people no longer tolerate such YBs regardless of their political affiliation.
ReplyDeleteThis leaves a "bad impression" on the people about the government of the day.
The BN leadership must thoroughly screen prospective candidates to be fielded in the coming poll to avoid such repetition.
Unlike most rural indigenous who are mostly classified as "dependents", research shows that the non-Bumis, especially the Chinese, do not rely much on the government of the day for assistance or subsidies.
The community in question is categorised as "Independent Voters", having the liberty to support leaders whom they think worthy to represent the community.

ReplyDeleteDAP Sabah is still weak, they are not well received enough to gain majority support.
ReplyDeleteJimmy Wong is also a problem for DAP since he was exposed for holding native certificate even though he's not bumiputera.
