PARTI Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) is keen to contest in Sepanggar which is now held by SAPP Deputy President Datuk Eric Majimbun.
Speaking to reporters after attending the PBRS’ 18th anniversary dinner on Saturday night, its president, Tan Sri Joseph Kurup, said he haD instructed PBRS divisional leaders in Inanam and Sepanggar to work hard and evaluate the party’s chances of contesting in Sepanggar.
So far, the reports and feedback that he had received are very positive, Kurup said.
To a question if he had submitted the list of candidates and constituencies to the Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chief Datuk Seri Musa Aman or Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, Kurup said no.
“I have indicated our interest to contest in the constituency (Sepanggar) but have not formally put it down in writing. There is still room to strengthen our position there.
“I do not want to reveal how many seats we are interested in because it is not proper to do so. I know for a fact that our comrades in BN are also working hard and I believe they also feel that they have winnable candidates but I know that the Prime Minister has his own way to evaluate the candidate is winnable or not.
“This means that the final decision is in the hands of the Prime Minister after discussing the matter with the Chief Minister,” he said.
Kurup in his speech also stressed that PBRS is not giving up on its claim for the Deputy State Assembly Speaker post because it was the party’s quota since BN was established in Sabah.
The Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment said that he failed to understand why the BN government still allowed the post to be held by a member of the opposition party.
“I cannot help but feel that something fishy is going on,” he said.
Speaking at the dinner, Kurup called on the party’s members to be prepared for the coming 13th general election.
“The clock is already ticking (and) in this particular case, the clock is ticking faster that before before parliament and the State Assembly are dissolved. This means that the period of enjoyment after the 12th general election is short.
“We have to be prepared so that we are able to not only defend our seats but also prove that we are the ‘winnable’ party for other specific constituencies,” he said. (theborneopost)

ReplyDeleteSeems like PBRS is getting closer to be contest in Sepangar. Well, hope the dream to be come true, and all the best.
ReplyDeleteI notice that PBRS also asking/claiming for the Deputy State Assembly Speaker post. The best decision might be done, just hold on a little longer.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to PBRS.
