UPON following up inspection of the Hospital Queen Elizabeth 2 (QEH2) yesterday by SAPP Youth Leaders Simon Chin and Jeffery George, workers were still found working by doing repair works at the car park at level 3 & level 4.
Looking at the condition of the car park, Simon wonder how QEH2 can be taken over and be fully operational in August, as again, quoted by the Health department Director, Dr Mohd. Yusof Haji Ismail today.
Simon again queried if the OC was certified Fit by a professional in accordance with Uniform Building Bylaws (UBB) and Standard Practices Malaysia.
“We now also understand that public building like hospital, have stricter UBB to be applied. Shouldn’t the Architect engage a ‘coring test’ on the structure concrete or floor with defeats and also have the Structure Consulting Reports” emphasized Simon.
“We do not want a repeat of the Tower Block at Hospital Queen Elizabeth 1(QEH1), which is now demolished because it was not safe anymore. The Tower Block did not live a normal ‘Life Span’ of 50 years for a normal building.
We quite worried because this is “Another Barisan National Government Project” by West Malaysia Company.

Are Sabahans not capable to do it?
ReplyDeleteutamakan kontraktor tempatan.
ReplyDeleteDon't simply give OC if the building construction doesn't fulfill the safety requirements.
ReplyDeletesebaiknya jika kontraktor tempatan diberikkan keutamaan.
ReplyDeleteSabah's project should b awarded to Sabahan
ReplyDeleteWhy? No local contractor are eligible to build the hospital?
ReplyDeleteThe claim to be no land to build a new bospital, but as we seen the multilevel QEH car park, i wonder why they just build a car park there instead of a hospital building with car park.
ReplyDeleteAs long as they are good contractor, doesn't matter where he come from.
ReplyDeleteThe buildings life span are too short, wasted peoples money.
ReplyDeleteSabag base company should request more project from West Malaysia. To be fair and i believe Sabah base company have same strength as their counterpart from West.
ReplyDeleteLonger the project delay, more suffer for the patients.
ReplyDeletenext time any leaders from opposition parties should not insist the government to implement and complete the project quickly.
